Hola! My name is Cecilia and I’m a third year modern languages student, studying Spanish and Catalan. I studied Spanish throughout secondary school but I really discovered my love of the language and culture while exploring different areas of the country. This year I will be on my year abroad, living in a small village in the south of Catalonia called La Sénia. I’ll be teaching in the local school but will also have lots of time to explore the mountains and beaches that surround it! 

I believe that the Linguist Magazine gives us linguists the important opportunity to practice and use the skills that we have developed from learning another language, but in a friendly and non-academic environment. As I am continuing my role as the Catalan editor, I am hoping to bring you lots more interesting articles about everything Catalan – culture, food, music, films and anything else that you might want to write about!
